Only selected applicants will be invited to an interview. Interviews will be scheduled for the week of April 2, 2018.
Successful summer candidates will be required to enroll in CLA Family Law for an academic term as a full-time student, or in 2 academic terms as a part-time student, in addition to taking the Clinical Seminar course.
Community Legal Aid - FAMILY LAW
A poverty law clinic offering legal services to University of Windsor students and low income residents of Windsor and Essex County. With the supervision of full time review lawyers, law students provide legal advice and represent clients in the following practice areas:
• Residential tenancy matters
• Criminal Code offences (Summary Conviction Offences where there is no possibility of imprisonment)
• Regulatory offences
• Employment Law
• Family Law
• Academic Affairs
• Small Claims Court
Community Legal Aid’s Family Law Practice Program will be hiring 2 (two) law students to work in the clinic during the summer. Under the supervision of Review Counsel, the law student will conduct work from the initial intake to the resolution of the matter. This includes correspondence and negotiation with opposing parties, explaining and drafting applications with clients, case analysis, preparation of legal arguments and representation before the Ontario Court of Justice in custody, support, access and restraining order matters. Please advise whether you have taken Evidence and Family Law.
