Qualification

All students must work as a Caseworker for at least one term before applying to be a Litigator. Students are not required to work as Litigators

Commitment

 

Students are expected to commit a minimum of 7 to 10 hours per week to their work over the course of the entire year and be available for training. 

Students attend the clinic for a mandatory weekly group meeting, and other times, as required to complete casework and to meet with the litigators assigned to the files.

Students submit file work and meet with Review Counsel regularly.  This is to ensure timely case management and that the ongoing needs of the clients are addressed.

Responsibilites

Assist caseworkers and litigators in client support.

 

Facilitate client intake and scheduling – complete intake forms, return client messages, provide support to reception, follow up on scheduled appointments, respond to inquiries for service, make appointment reminder calls.

 

Assist caseworkers with research requests and the preparation of memorandum as directed by the group leader.

 

Maintain strict client confidentiality.

 

Attend mandatory weekly group meetings and at other times as required to complete casework requirements and to meet with the litigators assigned to the files.

We have been advised that the first year email listserv was just activated Thursday. Therefore we are extending the deadline for first-year applicants for intake support worker and caseworker to Tuesday September 5th, 2017 at 9:00 am.

Interviews will be conducted during the first week of September. 

Mandatory orientation training will be held on Saturday September 9, 2017 at the law school.

First year students are encouraged to apply for this position. The applications for caseworker positions often exceed the number of positions available.
